Tikrit University
Dr. Israa Burhanuddin is a professor at Tikrit University in Iraq. She holds a PhD degree in English Language and Linguistics from Baghdad University in 2015. She was appointed the head of the department of English in the College of Education for Women in 2016, the dean assistant for scientific affairs in 2020, and the dean of the College of Education for Humanities in 2020. She has tens of published article, and she is an editorial board member in many local and international journals.
Dr Awad is a Fellow of the British Higher Education Academy since 2016. She has two in The University of Leicester and Saint Mary’s University in London.
An Iraqi academic and literary critic. She obtained her Diploma in 1991 from the Teachers’ Training Institute. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language and Literature from the College of Education for Women, University of Tikrit, in 1998. She obtained her Master’s degree in Modern Criticism from the College of Education for Women, University of Tikrit, in 2001, and her PhD in Modern Criticism from the College of Education, University of Tikrit, in 2006.
She is a Professor of Modern Criticism and Prosody in the Department of Arabic Language, College of Education for Women, University of Tikrit. She also teaches Aesthetics and Literary Theory at the PhD level and Modern Critical Approaches at the Master’s level.
She has supervised a number of master’s theses and doctoral dissertations in modern criticism and literature, as well as classical literature and its criticism.
She has authored numerous research papers in modern literature and literary criticism, which have been published in local academic journals and presented at international conferences.
