This research investigates the media coverage (BBC and CNN) of the escalation of violence in Ukraine and Gaza. The main purpose of this research is to reveal how ideologies influence media discourse in these two areas. This study compares language use between media outlets in reporting wars and conflicts in different countries. This study investigated how ideology influences media discourse via qualitative research and critical discourse analysis. Fairclough's approach (2001) is used in the analysis process to reveal how the use of language in the media texts analysed manipulates power and ideology. The sample consists of four newspaper articles from two media outlets; two articles are selected from BBC and two from CNN, one about Gaza and another about Ukraine. The analysis revealed how the media framed social actors to create distance between the two sides of the conflict. The results revealed differences in reporting the war and conflict in these areas; biasness was identified in the news discourse in terms of attack and defence.
