Abstract

This paper under title of aesthetic distance and horizon of expectation in two texts by Nali and Goran, two Kurdish poets, is taken from the doctoral dissertation entitled reader-response theory and the Kurdish poetry criticism. The paper aims to investigate aesthetic distance and horizon of expectation, which are established concepts by Hans Robert Jauss, and their influence on the process of text interpretation. The paper also applies those consepts on two texts by Nali and Goran to find out how those poets challenged the orthodox poetic patterns and how they created an aesthetic distance due to the fact that theirĀ  texts were not in conformity with their contemporary readers, horizon of expectation, which is considered as a criterion for recognizing the birth of an original text. The paper summarizes the conclusion to a few points at the end.
